Registration of calves got by embryo transplant will be accepted subject to the following conditions:

  1. Both donor cow and service sire used for the flush shall be fully pedigree registered with the Belted Galloway Cattle Society.
  2. Donor cow and service sire must have their DNA on file with the Belted Galloway Cattle Society.
  3. The Embryo Transfer Company used must be approved by DEFRA/SERAD.
  4. After flushing, a form (A) shall be sent by the Embryo Transfer Company to the Belted Galloway Cattle Society stating Sire, Dam, date of flush, and number of embryos collected (A fee of £30 will be charged).
  5. When embryos are implanted, a form (B) shall be sent to the Belted Galloway Cattle Society from the Embryo Transfer Company stating Sire, Dam, date of transplant, breed and age of recipient females.
  6. After pregnancy testing of the recipient, a form (C) shall be sent to the Belted Galloway Cattle Society, stating which animals are in calf.
  7. If combination of AI and natural service or a combination of more than one AI bull has been used to fertilize the flush, then ALL resulting calves shall be DNA tested for parentage.
  8. If only one bull is used to fertilize the flush, whether by AI or natural service or a combination of the two, then only one calf from each flush shall be DNA tested for parentage.
  9. If the embryos are imported, then the Belted Galloway Cattle Society shall require an export certificate, Pedigree form and DNA of both sire and dam from the exporting country’s Breed Society, plus authorization from the breeder of the embryos. Such authorization shall state that these embryos have been sold to the GB/Eire breeder, and so can be registered. All calves resulting from imported embryos shall be DNA parentage tested. (Fee for registering an imported flush is £50).
  10. If embryos are to be exported, the breeder/vendor shall inform the Society giving authorization for an export certificate to be raised, form (D). The information required shall be; Sire and Dam of the embryos, date collected, identity of purchaser and country to which they are to be exported. The Society will issue an export certificate and send to the Society of the importing country, the pedigree and DNA information to enable the claves to be registered. The Belted Galloway Cattle Society will not issue retrospective export certificates. (The fee for an ET export certificate is £25).
  11. All calves resulting from embryo transfer shall, when registered, have (ET) after their name on their certificate and Herd Book. All calves from imported embryos shall have (IMP/ET/plus abbreviated country of origin) (e.g. AUS or CAN) after their name on their certificate and in the Herd Book. Registration fees for ALL calves got by the ET will be 10% above normal registration fee.

Registration of calves from ET: 10% added to normal fee
