An excellent entry of Belted Galloways made for an exciting show and great display of Belted Galloways at Harrogate, judge for the day was Adam Lawson of the Mourneview herd who had travelled from Fife.
Six Bulls were forward in the Senior bull class, and the first prize ticket went to Crawlaw Harris from Allan and Susan Campbell, he is a son of Rowater Einstein. Second prize went to Castleton Branstan, sired by Grassknop Idris and exhibited by Castleton Farms, taking the third prize was Jonathan and Vicky Clowes with their bull Monochrome Lightning.
In the Junior bull class, there were 3 entries and taking the top spot was Castleton Casino from Castleton Farms, he is sired by Grassknop Idris. In second was Blackthorn Colonel from Ben and Becky Burgess Smith, following in third was Phoenix Harris from Nicola Davidson.
The cow class kicked off the female section and an excellent entry and display of 7 cows here. The red ticket was taken by the Dun cow from Sharon Morter Brightenflatt Key Largo who is sired by Mochrum Apollo 2, second place went to Mervyn Forster with Croft Easter Bonnett, third place went to Anne Mountain with Scaifehall Kylie.
Four claves were forward in the calf class, and at the top of this class was a heifer calf from the Keiley family, Croft Gee Whizz sired by Tobergill Yuist. Taking second spot was Huntfield Demi from Joe and Zan Kirk and in third was East Coast Bonnie from Sharon Morter.
On to the senior heifers and Adam had a hard task her with 8 strong entries. Leading this class was Allan and Susan Campbell with Croasdale Upon A Star sired by Ciarnsmore Prince Charming, closely followed in second prize was Ben and Becky Burgess Smith with Blackthorn. Third prize went to Castleton Farms with Castleton Bramble.
The junior heifer class was headed by again by the Campbells this time with Cairnsmore ur Tilly Madeleine, sired by Scaifehall King. Second place was Croft Fizz from the Keileys, and third prize went to the Castleton Farms with their heifer Castleton Clementine
Next was the Group of three class which was a spectacle with 8 groups of three on show. Winning first was the Group from Allan and Susan Campbell, second went to Ben and Becky Burgess Smith with third prize going to Castleton Farms. Again 8 was the number when 8 pairs entered the ring the Crawlaw team taking first spot. Second went to Castleton Farms and the Keiley family taking third.
The Champion classes started with the Junior Champion, which went to Allan and Susan Campbell with Crawlaw Harris and they also took Reserve Spot was Cairnsmore ur Tilly Madelyn.
For the Male Champion and the MacKerracher Trophy Adam Lawson went with her Junior Crawlaw Harris and the Reserve ticket went to Castleton Branstan.
Female Championship and the Chapman Frearson Trophy was awarded to Croasdale Upon a Star from the Campbells and Reserve Spot went to the Dun cow from Sharon Morter Brightenflatt Key Largo.
Finally, the overall Championship and the Mochrum Perpetual trophy was won by The Male Champion Crawlaw Harris and Reserve overall went to Croasdale Upon a Star.
The Belted Galloways were pulled out into the final six in both the Junior and Senior Groups of 4 a great achievement.
